If you are having trouble seeing files in Compass try the following:

  • You need to use a computer, NOT a mobile device to access Compass.
  • Reload the page.
  • Use a different browser (Chrome is preferred, Safari doesn’t work).
  • Restart your computer.
  • Check your Internet access.
  • Use a different computer.
  • Access the Internet somewhere else.
  • Download and setup the VPN Client for Illinois - especially important if you not on campus.
  • Create an Illinois Box account - you shouldn't need to do this for GS, but it's an important free tool you have access to as a student.
  • You will make extensive use of PDF files in GS 101 and need to have an updated version of Acrobat Reader on your computer.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud is available this year for free to students.  This is another way to access Acrobat Reader as well as the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of software.
  • Contact the Illinois Helpdesk for technology support.  Your GS 101 instructors can answer questions about GS 101, but are not specialized in technology support.
